The StoryWorld

| Adam’s Ordinary World | Anthony’s World | Adam’s New World |

The Storyworld of Adam’s Fall is the rich background of times, places and atmospheres which play a role in shaping and concretizing of the story. in some ways the storyworld and its elements are as eloquent as I hope the characters, themselves to be. This is why I’m looking for a good artist for backgrounds as well as an artist for characters. Even mountains have a gesture, I remember from my art-drenched days in New Mexico. And the visuals of the story will bring this out.

Adam’s Ordinary World

Times

Late September 2001.

Mood

The world is still reeling from the destruction of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and the aborted attempt to hit the White House. The events of 9/11 used to help shape this story, but I feel distant from that thread as it’s been a long time since that happened. I do remember that there was a world waiting to heal, that New Yorkers held each otehr close before the hawks of war turned the tragedy to their own ends. Noted Fri, 01 Aug 2014 (10.43). TBTG.

Places

EDEN. The small, pretentious Village of Eden. A pretty, wealthy town with all the woes and delights human nature can occasion, all nicely swept under the Oriental rug from Marrakesh.

ALL SAINTS’ EPISCOPAL CHURCH. (ALL SAINTS’)

ADAM’S STUDY. Adam has a cozy, little office in the back of ALL SAINTS’ Church with room for a desk, a couch, a prie-dieu, an easy chair, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, and a place for making tea. There are windows facing the path to and from the STUDY.
